Most of DFW's shooting ranges are indoor lanes: a bench, a target carrier, a rules card that starts with "no drawing from the holster." That's fine for zeroing a red dot. It is not where skill gets built.
Rooftop is an outdoor shooting range built for the work an indoor lane forbids. In every one of our ten tactical bays you can draw from the holster, move between positions, shoot rapid strings, transition between targets, and run steel — the same reps competitive shooters, law enforcement, and armed professionals put in before a match or a qualification. You're not sharing a firing line, and you're not waiting for a cease-fire to go set a target. The bay is yours.

Ten 40-Yard Tactical Bays
Each bay is a walled, private training space stocked with paper target stands, steel targets, moveable barricades, VTAC walls, barrels, tank traps, and a PRS barricade. Build a stage, isolate a skill, or run a department drill without asking anyone for permission.
150-Yard Rifle Bay
Carbine, practical rifle, and intermediate marksmanship out to 150 yards — the distance most outdoor ranges near Dallas don't offer. Rifle bay access is reserved for members who have passed the rifle bay qualification.
Autonomous RFID Access

Classes and Private Lessons
Rooftop Shooting Academy runs its classes on these bays. Andy Dang (USPSA Master) teaches the Performance Pistol series, starting with Core Fundamentals for new and newer shooters, plus the Intro to Competition Shooting clinic. Jenn Tang (USPSA/IPSC competitor with multiple High Lady titles) teaches Ladies Intro to Pistol Foundations, Ladies Pistol Fundamentals, and Concealed Carry Concepts. Private instruction is available with either instructor. Rooftop is also the North Texas home of PCSL, with monthly matches on these same bays.

Is there an outdoor shooting range near Dallas?
Yes. Rooftop Shooting Range is a fully outdoor range north of DFW, off TX-121, at 442 County Road 4455 in Trenton, TX (Fannin County). It has 10 private 40-yard tactical bays and a 150-yard rifle bay.
How much is a day pass?
A day pass costs $50, and no membership is required. First responders, veterans and active-duty military get 15% off, and every non-member signs a waiver before each visit.
Do I need a membership to shoot at Rooftop?
No. Non-members can shoot on a day pass Monday–Friday from 7:30 AM to 7:30 PM and on weekends from 1:00 PM to 7:30 PM. Weekend day-pass visitors should call ahead at 430-499-0099.
What are the hours?
Monday–Friday, the range is open to everyone from 7:30 AM to 7:30 PM. On Saturday and Sunday, members can shoot from 7:30 AM, and the range is open to everyone from 1:00 PM to 7:30 PM.
What can I shoot at the range?
Pistols, rifles, and shotguns are allowed in every tactical bay, and day-pass shooters can bring suppressors and other NFA items. Rifle calibers top out at .30-06 with no magnum rifle cartridges, and steel in the tactical bays is limited to .223/5.56 or smaller. Bring your own firearm. Rentals are only offered with private lessons.
Can I draw from a holster, shoot rapid fire, and shoot steel?
Yes. Holster draw (including from concealment), movement, rapid strings, target transitions, and steel targets are allowed in every tactical bay.
Is Rooftop good for beginners, and is instruction available?
The range is built for experienced shooters, and every non-member must demonstrate safe loading, press-checking, and unloading before shooting. Newer shooters can start with Rooftop Shooting Academy classes such as Andy Dang’s Performance Pistol: Core Fundamentals or Jenn Tang’s Ladies Intro to Pistol Foundations. Private lessons are available with either instructor.
Is there a long-distance rifle range?
Yes. The 150-yard outdoor rifle bay is for members and guests accompanied by a member. Members can shoot from the bench without qualifying, and after passing the rifle bay qualification they can train dynamically from the rooftop, tank traps, PRS, and barricades and shoot from positions other than the bench.
