Fundamental Foundations 102 with Andy Dang
Register for Fundamental Foundations 101 w/ Instructor Andy Dang of Rooftop Shooting Academy
Fundamental Foundations 102 (FF102)
FF102 integrates movement with shooting. Understanding the relationship and balance between fundamentals and movement is key to performing both concurrently with success. This course expands upon core marksmanship principles by introducing movement fundamentals, positional control, and dynamic problem-solving. Students will learn to execute efficient entries and exits, maintain visual discipline while moving, and apply fundamentals in non-standard positions and varied start conditions.
Key Skills / Learning Focus:
Movement control and efficiency
Shooting while moving
Position entries and exits
Non-standard shooting positions
Single-handed shooting and manipulations
Subjects / Syllabus:
Movement Fundamentals: short to long distance movement, moving safely with a firearm, balancing aggression vs. control, mounted and dismounted movement, understanding effects on sights
Exits, Entries, and Positioning: getting in and out of position, establishing movement control for optimal shooting, reverse-engineering position entries, handling different target difficulties
Shooting on the Move: grip and vision during movement, upper/lower body independence, sight management, visual and physical tracking, sight confirmation while moving, optimizing body mechanics
Dynamic and Divergent Shooting Fundamentals: draws and reloads on the move, various shooting stances and positions, index and recoil management in different contexts
Transitions: large and wide transitions, predictive exits and entries, confirmation modulation, VOR transitions
Accessory Skills: single-handed shooting and manipulations, non-standard start conditions (surrender, hands on marks, turn and draw, table starts, etc.)
Training Philosophy & Diagnostics:
Students will build confidence in balancing precision with speed under movement. The class emphasizes efficiency of motion, economy of effort, and diagnostic awareness — developing the ability to self-correct and perform with control under dynamic pressure.
Equipment Recommendations:
Pistol, magazines, gun belt, magazine pouches
Ear protection and eye protection
Ammunition:
Minimum: 500 rounds
Suggested: 700 rounds
Attire / What to Bring:
Attire suitable for forecasted weather conditions
Plenty of hydration and snacks

We will also cover key firearms manipulations, including draw and reload techniques.
Cost: $250 per student
Subjects:
Grip, upper body structure, stance, and posture
Vision: intensity, guidance, target focus, mental engagement
Trigger control: learning the trigger and trigger types, trigger pull styles, trigger reset
Index: visual and physical connection for faster shooting
Tension management: necessary muscular engagement, eliminating excess effort
Shotcalling: sight lift, practical vs precision shotcalling, visual and physical feedback
Confirmation: predictive and reactive shooting, types of sight pictures
Transitions: types of target transitions, sector of fire, focal depth changes, stance changes
Draw: overhand vs underhand, intermediate draw positions, varied initial positions
Reloads: pouch placement, magazine indexing, reloads while moving
Single-handed shooting: strong and weak hand manipulations
Equipment: configuration and optimization
Training philosophy and diagnostics

THIS STOP THE BLEED CLASS IS FOR ROOFTOP SHOOTING RANGE MEMBERS, SPONSORED SHOOTERS, AND RSOs ONLY. DO NOT REGISTER IF YOU ARE NOT AN ACTIVE ROOFTOP SHOOTING RANGE MEMBER.
Course Overview: This hands-on class prepares you to respond to life-threatening bleeding emergencies in resource-poor environments, where sterile settings, medical personnel, or supplies may be unavailable. Focused on the critical "Golden Hour" (the window to get patients to definitive care), you’ll learn practical, improvised techniques to stabilize injuries and buy time for survival.
Key Learning Objectives:
1. Tourniquet Mastery - Proper application of commercial tourniquets. - Improvised tourniquets using everyday items (belts, cloth, etc.).
2. Bleeding Control - Wound packing with gauze, hemostatic agents, or alternative materials (clean cloth, sanitary products). - Creating chest seals for penetrating injuries (using plastic, tape, etc.).
3. Adaptive Problem-Solving - Resourcefulness in non-sterile environments. - Prioritizing actions when medical help is delayed or unavailable.
4. Patient Assessment & Monitoring - Rapid evaluation of injuries and bleeding severity. - Tracking vital signs and maintaining stability until help arrives.
Why This Matters:
- Over 80% of preventable trauma deaths are due to uncontrolled bleeding.
- Emergencies happen *anywhere*—wilderness, conflict zones, accidents, or disasters.
- You can bridge the gap between injury and professional care.
Takeaway Skills:
- Confidence to act decisively in high-pressure situations.
- Ability to improvise with limited tools.
- Empowerment to be a lifesaver, not a bystander. Equip yourself with the knowledge to turn the tide between life and death.

Spec Train - 2-Day Level-Up Performance Pistol

This course is great for anyone wanting to get faster, and more accurate in any practical shooting context. This is not a "competition-only course" in the sense that will not spend a bunch of time going over competition rules, divisions, or skills that are totally competition-specific. We will, however, use USPSA-style stages as our testing ground for the skills that we develop in class, and will also review stage planning in depth. I believe stage planning and visualization skills are crucial for any shooter who wants to be elite, as these skills are required to establish accurate consistent baselines when evaluating techniques.
Primary Areas of Instruction Include:
Fundamentals deep dive, emphasis on grip, trigger control, and vision.
The formulas of speed and accuracy on targets of varying difficulty, including differing aiming schemes and trigger control techniques. (This culminates in the Billy Drill Standards with a chance for the Speed Up & Get Your Hits patch).
The Draw Stroke, including a discussion of the scoop vs snatch draw, and Billy's hybrid draw.
Advanced Target Transitions, including blending transition styles through targets of differing difficulties and correct prioritizing of speed vs. accuracy on target arrays.
Stage Planning.
Efficient movement between and through shooting positions.
Shooting on the Move
IMPORTANT: This class is not intended for beginners, and should not be your first training class. It is critical that students have already built sub-conscious competence with firearms safety and have a firm grasp on the fundamentals of marksmanship. To give an example of the recommended skill level, students should have a draw time of below 2 seconds and be able to consistently get A-zone hits at 15 yards. This class is designed to help shooters hone and take an existing skill set to the next level.
Basic Gear List:
- OWB holster and mag pouches or competition rig recommended. If a shooter is already proficient with an IWB position such as AIWB and prefers to use an EDC holster, that is acceptable as well.
- A full-size pistol with a minimum capacity of 15 rounds is recommended.
- Enough magazines to carry at least 60 rounds on your person.
- We expect to shoot around 1000-1200 over the two days.
- Athletic footwear with an aggresive tread is recommended.
-Full gear list and exact location will be emailed after registration.
-By entering payment information and completing an order you are certifying that you are of appropriate age for this training and that you are a U.S citizen who is legally allowed to possess a firearm.
