Range Features: What's in Every Outdoor Bay
Ten 40-yard tactical bays, one 150-yard rifle bay, steel in every bay, and no one telling you to keep your gun on the bench. This is the spec sheet for our outdoor shooting range in Trenton, TX, 25 minutes north of McKinney.
Ten Outdoor Tactical Bays, 40 Yards Deep
Each of Rooftop's ten tactical bays is a private, walled outdoor training space roughly 40 yards deep, with room for movement and transitions across the bay. One shooter or group per bay.
Pistols, rifles, and shotguns are all permitted in every bay (see caliber restrictions). It's the same equipment our PCSL matches are built on, which is why competitors use these bays for stage practice and steel work between matches.

Stocked in every tactical bay
Minimum steel distances by caliber are listed in the range rules.
Permitted in every tactical bay
- Draw from the holster, including from concealment
- Movement between positions and shooting on the move
- Rapid strings and multiple-target transitions
- Positional and barricade shooting
- Building your own stage or course of fire with the props
150-Yard Rifle Bay
A dedicated 150-yard outdoor rifle bay for carbine work, practical rifle, zeroing, and intermediate marksmanship. It's one of the longer rifle distances available near McKinney and the north Dallas suburbs, and the rifle and 2-Gun stages of our PCSL matches run here.

An Outdoor Shooting Range Built With Intent
Rooftop is a purpose-built outdoor shooting range for shooters who value consistency, efficiency, and real skill development, paired with exceptional customer service. We are not the cheapest option, and we are not designed to be a low-cost, high-volume range. That's deliberate.
01Respects Your Time
A 30 to 45 minute drive for most of North Dallas and DFW. Ranges more than an hour out turn a session into a half-day, and that means fewer sessions.
02Capped Membership
We limit memberships so you can train when you arrive, without competing for bays or waiting for access. Predictability is a feature, not a side effect.
03Reps Per Hour
Progress comes from quality repetitions, not waiting. Managed access means more time shooting, moving, and training with intent per visit.
04Professional Management
Operated as a professional range, not a volunteer-run club: responsive service, fair and consistent rule enforcement, and clear communication.
05A Curated Community
Culture isn't accidental. Rooftop is built around safety, respect, personal accountability, and shooters who elevate one another.
06Safety Through Structure
Controlled access, clear authority, and disciplined standards make for a safer, more predictable place to train with confidence.
If you're looking for the cheapest option or a high-volume public range, Rooftop may not be the right fit, and that's intentional. If you value professionalism, efficiency, results, and balance, Rooftop is designed for you.
Inside the Bays
Range Features FAQ
Are the pistol bays outdoor?
Yes. All ten tactical bays are open-air, walled outdoor bays, each about 40 yards deep.
Can I shoot steel?
Yes. Every tactical bay has steel targets. Minimum steel distances by caliber are in the range rules.
Can I draw from a holster?
Yes, from a belt holster or from concealment, in every tactical bay.
How long is the rifle bay?
150 yards. It's open to members and guests accompanied by a member, with bench shooting allowed without qualification and off-bench, dynamic shooting after the rifle bay qualification. It's also available for department and instructor rental.
What does the rifle bay qualification involve?
Engage a 6-inch steel plate at 100 yards from standing, kneeling and prone. You get 5 attempts and a 60-second par time for each position. If you don’t pass, you can retest exactly 30 days later, with unlimited attempts that day. Bench shooting on the rifle bay doesn’t require the qualification.
Can I bring my own barricades or props?
Contact us first. Each tactical bay already has moveable barricades, VTAC walls, and barrels, and the rifle bay adds tank traps, a PRS barricade, and a zero bench.
