Where DFW Law Enforcement Trains
More than 25 departments — including federal agencies — have active members at Rooftop. SWAT training, K9 neutrality exercises, qualification shoots, and department range days. Better infrastructure, more realistic rules, and pricing built for agencies.
The Range DFW Agencies Choose
Active members from more than 25 departments across DFW — including federal agencies — train at Rooftop. That's not a marketing claim. That's who's showing up to our bays every week.
We've hosted K9 units working neutrality exercises, SWAT teams running close-quarters scenarios, department rifle qual days on the 150-yard bay, and agency training days where the goal is building real skill, not just punching paper in a sanitized lane environment.
If you're evaluating range options for your department, the question isn't whether Rooftop can accommodate you. It's whether you've found anywhere else in DFW that can match what we offer at this price.
Built for How Agencies Actually Train
Most department range days fail because the facility can't support the training. Rooftop was designed for dynamic, realistic gunfighting work — not static bullseye shooting. Here's what that means in practice:
Shoot like it counts
270° shooting arc into backstop and side berms — not a single-direction lane
Draw from holster, shoot on the move, uprange movement, engage multiple targets simultaneously
Close-quarters scenarios using netted walls and barriers — configurable CQB setups
No mandatory cease-fires for target changes; work the bay on your timeline
Infrastructure you won't find everywhere
VTAC barricades, barrel stacks, and full barricade kits in every bay
Bench rests for precision/qual work alongside tactical setups
Canopies and shade cover for full-day training sessions
All target stands you need — steel and paper, multiple positions per bay
150-yard rifle bay for carbine qualification, precision rifle, and distance work
9 bays available
K9 support We've hosted K9 departments running neutrality exercises — controlled gunfire exposure to acclimate dogs to operational sound environments. If you're running K9 training that requires a live-fire component, this is a facility that can support it and has done it before.
More Realistic. More Affordable. Fewer Restrictions.
Other ranges in the DFW area operate with rules built for their lowest-common-denominator customer. That means restrictions that make sense for a first-timer but actively undermine law enforcement training: no holster draws, no rapid fire, no movement drills, no uprange movement. You can't build operational skill under those conditions.
Rooftop operates differently. Members draw from holsters. Rapid fire is the norm. Movement — lateral, forward, and uprange — is expected. The bays are set up to support dynamic shooting, not just discourage it.
And we're more cost-effective than the alternatives. Department range days at municipal facilities or commercial ranges with high overhead cost more and offer less. Call us and compare.

Why We're Built This Way
Rooftop was founded in 2023 by Peter Kim. Peter volunteers training time for underfunded police departments — agencies that can't afford quality instruction or facilities but whose officers carry and deploy regardless. That work shaped what this range is.
The LE discount, the realistic rules, the infrastructure — none of it is marketing. It's a reflection of who we think this facility should serve.
