We've hosted K9 departments running neutrality exercises: controlled gunfire exposure to acclimate dogs to operational sound environments.
If your K9 training needs a live-fire component, this is a facility that can support it and has done it before.
Rules Built for Operators, Not First-Timers
Many DFW ranges run rules built for their least experienced customer. That makes sense for a first-timer, but it undermines law enforcement training. You can't build operational skill under those conditions.

A Range Shaped by Service
Rooftop was founded in 2023 by Peter Kim. Peter volunteers training time for underfunded police departments, agencies that can't afford quality instruction or facilities but whose officers carry and deploy regardless. That work shaped what this range is.

Law Enforcement FAQ
Do individual officers need a membership?
No. Come out on a day pass Monday to Friday during regular hours or after 1 PM on weekends. Active officers get 15% off day pass admission.
How do I get the law enforcement discount?
Show your credentials. Active officers receive 15% off day passes and all membership tiers, plus an additional 15% off the annual membership rate.
Can our department rent the full facility?
Yes. Full facility or individual bay rental is available for departments, agencies, and units, scheduled around your rotation and training objectives.
Can we run K9 live-fire training?
Yes. We've hosted K9 departments running neutrality exercises with controlled gunfire exposure.
Can we run rifle qualifications?
Yes. The 150-yard rifle bay supports carbine qualification, precision rifle, distance work, and positional rifle work from barricades, tank traps, a PRS barricade, and the rooftop. When a department rents it for the day, we configure it around your training needs.
Agency training requirements
What does our department need to provide before a training day?
Before your training date, please send us:
- A certificate of insurance naming Rooftop Shooting Academy LLC as additional insured
- Your equipment list, so we can stage it before you arrive
- Your total number of participants, and how many officers per group if you rotate
- A signed Texas tax-exempt form for your agency
- An invoicing contact, plus any invoicing requirements your department has
Every officer and instructor also signs our waiver before shooting, each day of training. Details on each item are below.
What do you need on the certificate of insurance?
Your department must send a certificate of insurance before training that names Rooftop Shooting Academy LLC as the additional insured. Please use that exact name. It is not Rooftop Shooting Range.
Do we need to tell you what equipment we need?
Yes. Send us your equipment needs in advance so we can prepare and stage everything before your training date. For example: how many target stands, VTAC barricades, tables, netted walls and anything else your lesson plan calls for.
Do you need a headcount?
Yes. Let us know the total number of participants. If your officers will rotate between groups during the day, tell us how many officers are in each group so we can set up the bays to match.
Can we do vehicle training?
Yes, with these requirements:
- Your department provides the vehicle and a tarp to cover the ground and catch broken glass.
- Vehicles must be drained of all fluids, with no flammable fluids left in them, so nothing contaminates the range.
- Bringing the vehicle in and removing it is your department's responsibility, including having a wrecker service retrieve it. Rooftop does not deliver or remove vehicles.
Do officers need to sign a waiver?
Yes. Every officer who will be present, including instructors, must sign our waiver before shooting, every day of every visit.
How does invoicing work for agencies?
Send us a signed Texas tax-exempt organization form for your agency and a good contact to receive the invoice. Different departments have different invoicing requirements, so include any specific instructions your department needs, such as a PO number, vendor forms or a billing portal.
