Intro to Pistol Foundations is designed specifically for women with no prior pistol experience. This course starts from the ground up, focusing on safety, understanding how a pistol works, and building comfort and confidence on the range.
This is a slow-paced, supportive class that emphasizes proper handling, clear explanations, and safe repetition. Students will learn the why behind each skill, not just the steps, creating a strong base for future training and continued development.
No prior experience is required.
Firearm safety rules and safety mindset
Range etiquette and range commands
Pistol components and basic operation
Ammunition overview and function
Grip fundamentals and hand placement
Stance and body position
Sight alignment and sight picture
Trigger press and follow-through
Recoil awareness and management
Live-fire fundamentals at a controlled pace
Safe loading, unloading, and malfunction clearing
Confidence-building through coached repetition
Semi-automatic pistol (9mm recommended)
2–3 magazines
Eye protection and ear protection (required)
Closed-toe shoes
Hat with brim recommended
Range rental or borrowed pistols are acceptable if students do not own one. Please contact the instructor in advance to coordinate equipment needs.
Minimum: 150 rounds
Suggested: 200 rounds
Attire suitable for forecasted weather conditions

Plenty of hydration and light snacks
Notebook and pen (optional for note-taking)

All class fees are non-refundable. If you are unable to attend your scheduled class, your payment will be converted into a credit that may be applied toward a future Rooftop Shooting Academy class.
